Shawnee Mission Northwest defeated SM North in the Krispy Kreme doughnut challenge in early October. The $750 cash prize, donated by Krispy Kreme, has been delivered to the mailbox of Student Council sponsor Sarah Dent.
“We won by 114 dozen,” Dent said. “All the money will be used to help pay for senior night at Powerplay after graduation, an event that is always running in the hole on finances.”
The goal of the competition was to determine which school could purchase the most dooghnuts from the Krispy Kreme on Shawnee Mission Parkway. North supporters purchased red sprinkled doughnuts and NW supporters purchased orange. Krispy Kreme and StuCo are already organizing another competition for next year.
“We’ve been talking to about having the event next year, and they’ll probably agree,” Dent said. “I think they made quite a deal of money off of it.”
