Potential judges must be high school graduates, but no additional experience is required. During each round, judges will be expected to listen to six to eight students, rank them and comment on how the students can improve. Volunteers do not have to judge all three rounds.

Even with the home court advantage, Saint Thomas Aquinas posed little threat to the Cougars. After a sluggish first quarter where a combined 11 points were scored, the Cougars pulled away in the second quarter outscoring the Saints 24-5.
