The Lady Cougars lost in a hard fought battle against the Ravens of Olathe Northwest on Tuesday night 50-42. Although the Cougars held the score even at halftime at 17 all, the Ravens proved too dominant in the second half.
A basketball matchup against Olathe East is always an intense game. There has been hostility in this series since the 3OT game two years ago that knock Northwest out of a chance to make it to the state tournament in 2008.
It was a different story one year ago. Northwest and Bishop Miege played last season in the Saint Classic Championship game and ran over the Cougars 78-57. That was not the case this year.
Friday, December 18th, Basketball games are a doubleheader as the Lady Cougar basketball team faces off against the Lawrence lions at 5:30 p.m. After the conclusion of the girls game the Northwest boy’s basketball team will face off against the chesty lions of Lawrence High around 7 p.m.
After coming off a stunning performance against arch rival Shawnee Mission North, the girls’ basketball team will face Blue Valley Northwest tonight in the SMNW gymnasium. The ladies reeled in their first win of the season after defeating the Indians, 44-38.
